MODULAR
Flexiboxes are modular pens built into the calf stable. Many variations are possible: a single row, double row, expandable per pen, adjustable depth, etc.
For the Claerhout family there was a conscious decision to provide the pens larger than the standard dimensions. The following was quickly noticed: "Since I have the pens and they are a bit bigger, the calves are more vital, they drink more and take in more feed. All this ensures that the calves grow faster", Jeroen said.
It is possible to provide the partition walls up to a height of 1.20m, which means that also large breeds can be accommodated in these pens.
HYGIENIC
The panels of the Flexiboxes are all hermetically sealed, preventing germs from settling in any slots, cracks or in the panels themselves. This reduces the infection pressure in the pen. This perfectly hygienic environment guarantees the health of the Claerhout family's calves, saving them on veterinary costs.
MAINTENANCE FRIENDLY
When they slide out all the partition walls, the Claerhout family can muck out the pens mechanically in one movement. The panels can then be cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner. Thanks to the flatness and closed nature of the panels, the dirt is easily washed away. After disinfecting the department, the pens are ready for the next calves. This way no germs are transferred between different groups.
DISinfection
The Flexiboxes are easy to transport and require simple assembly. This results in low installation costs. In addition, thanks to the easy assembly, they can be put into use quickly after delivery.
GROUP HOUSING
With the Flexiboxes you can easily switch from individual housing to group housing. "The last few weeks we move the panels out, so the calves are already used to going to the large group housing", says Jeroen.
